Former attorney general owes student $4.5M for homophobic blog
Andrew Shirvell, a former state assistant attorney general in Michigan, will have to pay $4.5 million in damages to a student whom he slandered and stalked for being gay.
Shirvell created a blog about Chris Armstrong, the University of Michigan’s first openly gay student body president, calling him “Satan’s representative on the student assembly” and a “privileged pervert.” He also showed up at Armstrong’s house several times.
Armstong sued him in 2011 and after a year of fighting in court and a weeklong trial, has won on all counts. He was awarded $4.5 million in damages.
Whoosh. What a case.
hey guys, friendly neighborhood reminder that if your partner (or anyone in your life) doesn’t make you feel loved and like you’re a totally rad special superstar, kick their butt to the curb and remember that you are a+ awesome and deserve a whole heck of a lot better than that
